Františkovy Lázně is one of the most frequently visited spa resorts in the Czech Republic. It lies in the very western tip of the country. The charming atmosphere makes it one of the most beautiful towns in Western Bohemia. When walking along the colonnade you will feel like taken a century back in time, to the golden time of spa industry. Františkovy Lázně is a very picturesque town and its architecture reveals that building of the town was carefully planned. Each house had meet certain criteria regarding height, appearance and colour of the facade. All this explains the unique neo-classicist urban entity which is surrounded by a large number of green parks. The spa resort enjoys a very mild climate and extraordinaly fresh air. For patients there are 23 springs of very strong alcalic aciduous water and also moor. All this helps those with locomotor system, cardiovascular and sterility problems. Spa guests have many opportunities to enjoy their free time.

History
The first reliable historical source places using the mineral springs in this area to the 15th century. In the course of time many reputable physician confirmed the currative effect of the springs. Around the year 1600 a new spring, this time with drinkable water, was discovered and a century later the first spa building was constructed. The spa got its name after the emperor Franz I. The spa resort grew very fast and in the 19th century it was already a proper spa town.
