Hukvaldy, the imposing ruins of Gothic castle is situated in a village of the same name in the Moravian – Silesian Region. It is one of the biggest Moravian castles and it took more than five centuries for it to be completed.

Leoš Janáček, the composer, was born in Hukvaldy in 1854. The house where he was born still exists and can be visited. Every year a music festival Janáček’s Hukvaldy takes place here.
