The Olomouc region covers the central part of Moravia. The Olomouc Region is in fact divided into two sub-regions. In the southern part called Hanná, formed mostly by valleys, one can discover the folklore and cultural traditions of Central Moravia. By contrast, the northern mountainous part, dominated by the Jeseníky mountains with Moravia‘s highest mountain Praděd, offers a countless numbers of possibilities of how to spend holidays. The beautiful city of Olomouc is the region’s capital. After Prague it is the second most significant urban conservation area in the whole of the Czech Republic. The holy trinity Column in the city’s main square is on the UNESCO Heritage List. Other great attractions are St Moric Church, St Wenceslas Cathedral and, not far from Olomouc , Svatý Kopeček, a very famous site of pilgrimage with an outstanding Baroque church. The whole region is blessed with natural, cultural and historical jewels including Bouzov and Šternberk castles and Velké Losiny chateau.
