Velké Losiny Chateau is situated in a little town of the same name in the Olomouc Region about 9km north-east of the town of Šumperk. It is one of the most spectacular Rennaisance chateaux in the whole of Moravia.
The original Gothic fortress was turned into a Rennaisance chateau in the 15th century by the powerful Žerotín Family that had built a number of other residences throughout the region. Together with the chateau, a spa and a paper mill, which is still in use today, were built as well. At the turn of the 17th and 18th century the chateau changed its appearance as it was reconstructed in the Baroque style. Inside we can find many valuable collections and original furnishings. Many events, such as exhibitions and concerts, take place at the chateau every year.
