This region is unusual in that it incorporates three areas that are very different from each other. These are the industrial coal mining area including Chomutov, Most, Teplice and partly Ústí nad Labem, the agricultural area of Litoměřice and Lounsko regions, the Kuršné Hory territory and the rocky area of Děčín region with České Švýcarsko (Czech Switzerland) and Šluknov region. The Šluknov Hook is the most northern part of the Czech Republic. The backbone of the region is formed by the Labe river. Tourism is well developed in the Ústí Region, especially in the Czech Central Mountains with many castles and the Říp Mountain with its Romanesque rotunda. Litoměřice and Úštěk have been awarded the status of preserved reservations whilst the spa town of Teplice offers the possibility to relax and rejuvinate.
