The Reneissance chateau is one of the main highlights of the town of Bechyně, situated not far from the town of Tábor in the South Bohemian Region. King Přemysl Otakar II bought the town in 1269 and had a castle built there soon. The castle then went through hands of many owners. In 1569 Petr Vok, a famous gigolo of Bohemian aristocracy, got married with a very young girl Kateřina from Ludanice. Not before long the castle was turned into an imposing chateau.
owadays the chateau is open to public and it is certainly worth visiting! The adjacent park received its appearance in the 1830s. Many cultural events, such as concerts and exhibitions take place at the chateau or in the garden every year.
