Netolice is situated on the site of a former Slavic fortress. Later, in the 10th century, it became for almost three hundred years, one of the Přemyslids royal family strongholds. Remnants of fortification, some ceramics and bones have survived up to the present day. The museum was opened in 2004 and demonstrates what life would have be like when the fortress was inhabited.
