The Babylon observation tower is situated on Zelený kopec (Green Hill), 491m, 9 km south of Náměšť nad Oslavou. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful towers in the Czech Republic, built in 1831. Its original height was 40 metres, however, it was severely damaged during the Austro-Prussian war in 1866 and lowered to 25 metres. An extensive reconstruction was carried out a few years ago and nowadays it is open to the public.
