The South Bohemian Region is particularly famous for the beauty of its countryside. It is formed by the Budějovice and Třeboň basins whilst its borders are formed by mountains and highlands. The region is often perceived as „region of lakes“ and it is famous for the omnipresent fish industry. The South Bohemian Region is often visited by water sports enthusiasts thanks mainly to the Lužnice, Nežárka and Vltava rivers as well as Lipno Dam. The south-west border is formed by the Šumava mountains where we can still find many areas of untouched countryside. A specific feature of this region is its folk architecture. Speaking of South Bohemia one cannot forget to mention the renowned Budvar beer. In the South Bohemian Region we can find a large number of precious monuments and Český Krumlov and Holešovice are both on the UNESCO Heritage List. Other popular locations are the Hluboká chateau and towns Rožmberk and Jindřichův Hradec.
